The ship was not a mine sweeper. It was an attack transport. Originally built at the end of WW2 to transport UDT Teams and REcon Marines. During the Vietnam war it supported SEAL team operations. Wooden hall wouldn't attact magnetic mines, which would gravitate to regular ships with iron/steel halls, and then Ka-boom. I was part of the crew when it visited Thailand. I do not remember the exact date but must have been in 1997 - 1969
